The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women’s tennis team announced on Wednesday that their fall season will consist of four tournaments and will begin on September 10 at the Contender CrossFit Islander Open, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
“We are very excited to jump on the road against some excellent Texas competition this fall,” UTRGV head coach West Nott said. “We built up some great momentum as a group in the spring and I know our team has worked hard throughout the summer. They have put themselves in a good position to have some special things happen this fall.”
Following the tournament in Corpus Christi, the Vaqueros will then compete at the Javelina Invitational from Sept. 17-18 hosted by Texas A&M Kingsville.
The Vaqueros will then travel to San Marcos to compete in the Texas State Invitational from Oct. 2-3 before closing out the fall season at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals, hosted by TCU, from Oct. 14-18 in Fort Worth.
“The fall is a great time to learn to play together and build team chemistry for the upcoming spring season,” Nott said. “We will be learning how to communicate with each other, cheering each other on, and picking each other up when the going gets tough.”
