A shock report has suggested that Kylian Mbappe has fallen out with Antoine Griezmann, who was once believed to be a good friend of his in the France national team.
It was a difficult 2020 UEFA European Championship for Mbappe, who failed to score a single goal from 12 efforts and was embroiled in several off-field controversies.
Mbappe also missed the penalty in the shootout against Switzerland in the round of 16 that cost France their place at the competition, and he has since been the target of major scrutiny from French media.
L’Equipe has now stated there has been more drama behind the scenes to add to his public spat with Olivier Giroud leading up to Euro 2020, with it being reported that the 22-year-old fell out with Griezmann in recent months.
It is claimed that Mbappe has been jealous of the Barcelona man’s role in Didier Deschamps’ set-up, so much so that he was more concerned with Griezmann’s performances than his own.
Furthermore, the two were reportedly on different pages regarding Karim Benzema’s return to France. While the Paris Saint-Germain attacker was excited by the Real Madrid striker’s comeback, Griezmann was said to be less enthusiastic.
It is also suggested that Mbappe upset a few of the team’s more senior players with his behaviour throughout the tournament, with Griezmann believed to be among that group.
In terms of his future, reports in recent days state that Mbappe has no intention of signing a new deal at PSG, with whom he has only a year remaining on his contract.
