Augustana soccer is on the road once again as it heads down to Kearney, Nebraska, to take on the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers. The game will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Vikings are 0-2-0 to begin the season and hoping to reverse the pattern entering this contest. The Lopers’ current record is 1-1-0.

The Vikings are on the road for the second-straight weekend taking on their third straight MIAA team. After three MIAA games to begin the season, Augustana’s next 15 matchups will be against NSIC teams.
The Vikings were tabbed to finish second in the NSIC Preseason Coaches poll. They received two votes for first place. Nebraska-Kearney was selected to finish 12th in the MIAA preseason poll.
Nebraska-Kearney enters this matchup coming off a loss against Montana State-Billings. The record for the Lopers to begin the season is 1-1-0. Redshirt Freshman Aspen Brandich scored the Lopes’ only goal of the season so far.
Following two tough road games in Kansas last week, the Vikings are aiming for a push going into their third-straight MIAA matchup. Freshman Sierra Barkus scored the Viking’s lone goal of the season during the teams’ contest at Washburn.
Augustana has had plenty of shots on goal during the season at this point, so it is looking to continue that effort. Senior Morgan Keirstead and Junior Kelly Kleekamp lead the team in shots on goal with three total for Keirstead and a total of two for Kleepkamp.
Senior Morgan Keirstead is entering this season as a team captain and leads the Vikings with three shots on goal. Keirstead also picked up the first assist of the season on Barkus’ goal.
