Cycling community takes a ride to honor teen who died over the weekend

A northern Michigan cycling community is riding together in honor of a teenage boy who died last weekend.

On Tuesday night, more than 100 people gathered in memory of Braiden Voss.

Friends described the 19-year-old as an amazing friend and athlete.

Norte, Hagarty Cycling Team, friends and family biked 45 miles from Traverse City Central High School to the lighthouse on Old Mission Peninsula.

Organizers said the route was one of Voss’s favorites.

Friends shared their memories of Voss and appreciation for the community coming together to celebrate his life.

“He will be missed by more than just me,” Braiden’s friend Carson Nowak said. “He touched so many people’s lives and he was just the best person I’ve ever met. He will always have an impact on everyone.”

Voss started cycling with Hagarty at 14-years-old.

Organizers said they were happy to commemorate doing what he liked to do best.
