SIUE men’s basketball Head Coach Brian Barone continues to reshape his coaching staff, announcing the promotion of Colin Schneider to assistant coach.
Schneider has been the Director of Basketball Operations for the past two seasons.
“Staff continuity is extremely important in building a championship culture,” Barone said. “Coach Schneider is a great resource for our players after having worked for five seasons in the NBA prior to his time with us here. We built a championship culture together at Green Bay, and I know Colin has an understanding of what it takes to help us continue to build one here at SIUE. He defines work ethic and loyalty and epitomizes our ‘Find A Way’ mentality every day.”
“I’m extremely grateful to Coach Barone for entrusting me to continue with the program as an assistant coach,” Schneider said. “I view Coach Barone and his family as part of my family. I believe in his championship vision for this program, and his ability to get the job done. Working with the student-athletes on a daily basis is an honor, and I’m looking to push the needle in a positive direction any way I can. There is incredible momentum here in Edwardsville, and my family and I are very excited to be a part of it.”
Prior to SIUE, Schneider spent three seasons as the Head Video Coordinator with the Sacramento Kings, where he assisted the coaching staff with all video operations including preparing scouting videos and game plans for each opponent. He was also an assistant coach for the Kings’ summer league entry. Prior to his time in Sacramento, he was the Assistant Video Coordinator for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Not a stranger to Division I basketball, Schneider was the Director of Basketball Operations for Green Bay for three seasons, overseeing the program’s budget, travel, student-workers, film exchange, on-campus recruiting, scouting reports, practice planning and video editing. He also spent three seasons as a student assistant for the Phoenix.
Schneider earned a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional studies from Wisconsin-Green Bay in 2010 and a master’s in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University-Irvine in 2013.
Schneider is a native of New Holstein, Wisconsin. He and his wife, Maura, welcomed son Crosby in February 2018 and son Briggson in December of 2020.
