This week the Hunterdon Basketball Academy is our Athlete of the Week.
The Hunterdon Basketball Academy will represent New Jersey for the Ladies Ball, the nation’s top girl’s youth basketball championship. According to their website, “Hunterdon Basketball Academy is a non-profit youth organization with the primary mission of promoting the development of young players by teaching them the correct fundamentals, skills, sportsmanship, and team play needed to succeed in the game of basketball. Our focus is to coach each player to help them reach their maximum potential and elevate their understanding of the game.”
On the U12 HBA Spartan Girls Team are Sadie Finn, of Flemington; Tatum Caughey, of Hampton; Madilyn Hazen, of Flanders; Cambria Tucker, of Flemington; Abigail Simpson, of Hampton; Brooke Shaw, of Flemington; Stella Colis, of Branchburg; Katie Schwartz, of Flemington; Shealy Piro, of Asbury; Elizabeth Kellogg, of Ringoes; Reyna Facenda, of Fanwood; Marlee Ceglia, of Hampton; and Sadie Erling, of Pittstown.
HBA founder George Mercado said they had 22 wins, with key wins over the NJ Sparks, NJ Magic and NJ Raptors.
This is the first time the Hunterdon team has been chosen to play for the northeast bracket.
